Dr. Michael Stifelman, Director of Robotic Surgery at NYU Langone, proctored Québec's first-ever robotic partial nephrectomy on February 9th.
Dr. Stifelman worked with Dr. Jacques Corcos, Professor of Urology at McGill University, to remove a renal cell carcinoma in a 70-year-old woman at Jewish General Hospital in Montréal. Making use of the da Vinci robotic surgical system, this operation removes the diseased portion of the kidney while preserving as much of the patient’s own kidney as possible.
NYU Langone Medical Center is recognized as a major training center for robotic renal surgery.
