Robotic Urologic Surgery
Advances in computer technology and miniaturization of surgical instruments have enabled the introduction of robotics into urologic surgery. At NYU Langone, we routinely use robotic surgery to manage kidney cancer, prostate cancer and adrenal tumors. We are also expert at reconstructive urologic surgery and repairing obstructions in the urinary tract through robotic surgery.
Pioneering work by an experienced team
Since 2003, our surgeons have performed hundreds of robotic surgeries using the da Vinci® surgical system with a highly experienced surgical team. NYU Urology faculty have also co-authored some of the largest clinical research studies describing the efficacy of robotic surgery. Led by Director of Robotic Surgery Dr. Michael Stifelman, the Program in Robotic Urologic Surgery is dedicated to evaluating and improving this technology for the treatment of complex urologic diseases. This includes the addition of a da Vinci® Si HD surgical system—the first of its kind at any institution in New York or New Jersey.
